The opening ceremony with the traditional eye dotting ceremony, takes place at midday in Trafalgar Square. A dramatic firecracker display will signal a cultural feast of Chinese music, dance and acrobatics.

Hunderds of performers will take their place on the Trafalgar Square main stage, including the world-renowned Chen Brothers Flying Lion Dance and variety performers from Guangdong and Sichuan Provinces. Lawrence Cheng, festival director, London Chinatown Chinese Association, which is organising the celebrations, says, “Chinese New Year is the most important festival for the worldwide Chinese community.
